Head Coach- Nicolas Gomez
With more than three decades of coaching experience across Mexico and the United States, Coach Gomez has built a distinguished career developing athletes, leading championship-level programs, and elevating basketball wherever he serves. His coaching journey began in Monterrey, Mexico, where he held multiple head coaching roles from 1988 to 2001, including Salesiano Don Bosco School, Club Primavera, Deportivo Country, Instituto Regiomontano Chepevera AC/De La Salle, CEU of Monterrey University, and the University of Monterrey (UDEM). During this period, he earned a reputation for building disciplined, high-performing teams and shaping young athletes into confident competitors.
In 2001, Coach Gomez brought his talents to the United States, serving as Head Coach at the YMCA in Galveston, Texas, before becoming Activities Director and Head Coach at TCCI from 2005 to 2012. From 2011 to 2019, he expanded his impact at Holy Family Catholic School of Galveston, where he coached boys’ soccer, girls’ and boys’ basketball, girls’ softball, and volleyball, while also serving as Athletic Director. His leadership strengthened the school’s athletic culture and provided multi-sport opportunities for student-athletes.
Coach Gomez also has professional coaching experience at the highest levels of Mexican basketball. He served as Assistant Coach for Panteras de Aguascalientes in the LNBP during the 2018–2019 season and later as Assistant Coach for the women’s professional team Atléticas de Monterrey in the Liga Mexicana de Baloncesto Profesional in 2022.
Since 2022, Coach Gomez has led the Men’s Basketball program at St. Philip’s College in San Antonio, Texas, where he continues to mentor student-athletes with the same passion, discipline, and dedication that have defined his entire career. His extensive experience, bilingual coaching background, and commitment to athlete development make him a respected leader both on and off the court.
